Yoga is a form of exercise that deals with the physical, mental as well as the spiritual level of our body. It originated in India and in the current time has been widely acknowledged all over the world. Performing yoga has plenty of benefits.
Certain medical conditions require exercises after surgery or treatment to make our body heal faster. In such scenarios, yoga comes to the rescue as it helps us to relieve pain, both physically and mentally. However, yoga does not give instant results. If we are practising yoga, we need to be consistent with it to witness fruitful results.
Following are certain types of yoga that we can perform:
Shishuasana (Child Pose)
Starting with the basic one that is Child Pose. Child pose is easy to perform as it only requires you to bend your body by sitting. Health and Meditation have an eternal bond. Staying in this pose for two to three minutes can calm the mind. Moreover, it also helps in stretching the arm to relieve muscle stiffness.
Padangusthasana (Big Toe Pose)
In this pose, we need to stand still and keep our feet six inches apart. Then, we need to bend forward from the back without bending the knee and try to touch the feet. If we can do it successfully, we need to slide our fingers between our toes. This asana should not be performed by you if you are suffering from back issues. That being said, half a minute of this pose will help us to improve digestion along with calming the nervous system.
Bhujangasana (Cobra Stretch)
If we are suffering from fibromyalgia, or if we want to relieve certain symptoms, we can opt for the Cobra stretch which helps in relieving back pain up to a great extent. All we need to do is lie straight on the floor facing it. With the palms on the ground, we need to exert force to lift the body. We only need to lift the upper body. All our lower area and legs should remain still. Overall, a nice curvature should form. This will help in relieving stiffness from the back and can also help in opening chest muscles.
Ardha Pincha Mayurasana (Dolphin Pose)
Dolphin Pose is a moderately difficult pose. In this pose, we need to press our upper body away from the ground. An inverted V shape should be formed. (Just like this Λ). This pose helps in relieving the pain from the shoulders and back. If we are suffering from digestive issues, then also this pose can help. But yes, we need to be careful while performing this as performing it in the wrong manner can lead to injury.
Setu Bandha Sarvangasana (Bridge Pose)
Bridge pose can be performed almost anywhere. All we need is a yoga mat and space. Just lay down on the floor and push the body away from the floor while keeping our knees bent and flat on the floor. This pose helps in dealing with stress. If any lady is feeling menstrual discomfort, then also this pose can help.
