The No-Cooking Diet
Dieting is difficult enough without putting yourself in the kitchen where temptation is at every turn. If dieting is your primary interest, a good rule to follow is to stay out of the kitchen as much as possible.
All of the food in this diet is either raw (as a fruit) or needs no more preparation than putting it on a plate. Naturally the menus are limited, but if variety is not vital to you, this diet will work well for you.
DAY 1
Breakfast
½ grapefruit
½ bagel
1 tsp. diet margarine
Coffee or tea
Snack
1 cup of grapes
Lunch
1 oz. Swiss cheese
½ bagel
2 carrot, in sticks
5 pretzel sticks
Snack
10 radishes
1 large celery stalk, in sticks
Dinner
6 oz. cold chicken sliced
½ head iceberg lettuce
1 tomato sliced
1 tbsp. diet dressing
12 strawberries
Snack
1 cup popcorn (no salt or butter)
DAY 2
Breakfast
1 cup cornflakes
½ cup low-fat milk
Coffee or tea
Snack
½ mango slices
Lunch
Open-face tuna sandwich made with:
3 oz. tuna (water packed or well drained of oil)
1 slice toast
lettuce
½ tomato sliced
Snack
1 oz. Cheddar cheese
Dinner
6 oz. canned or fresh shrimp
5 sliced fresh mushrooms
1 tbsp. diet dressing
Snack
1 medium banana
DAY 3
Breakfast
1 navel orange, sliced
1 cup plain yogurt
Coffee or tea
Snack
1 cup popcorn
Lunch
½ cup cottage cheese
¼ cantaloupe
2 oatmeal raisin cookies
Dinner
4 oz. canned or fresh crabmeat
3 tbsp. cocktail sauce
10 oyster crackers
2 carrots, in sticks
Snack
1 medium apple
DAY 4
Breakfast
3 oz. fresh pineapple
2 cups puffed rice
½ cup low-fat milk
Coffee or tea
Snack
3 oz. fresh pineapple
Lunch
Open-face liverwurst sandwich made with:
1 slice (1 oz.) liverwurst
1 slice bread
½ cup applesauce, unsweetened
Dinner
Salad mad with:
1 oz. Swiss cheese, in strips
2 oz. turkey, sliced in strips
1 hardboiled egg
¼ head lettuce
1 tomato
2 tbsp. diet dressing
½ cup blueberries
DAY 5
Breakfast
½ cup orange juice
1 large shredded-wheat biscuit
½ cup low-fat milk
Coffee or tea
Snack
1 medium banana
Lunch
½ avocado
1 tbsp. diet mayonnaise
2 Melba toast rounds’1 oz. cheese
Snack
2 plums
Dinner
6 oz. sardines
5 raw mushrooms, sliced
1 carrot, in sticks
½ head lettuce

2 pieces butterscotch candy
