Soup and Salad Diet Meal Plan

This diet is easiest if you stick to the canned soups, since the calories are counted for you, as against homemade. If variety is not important to you, eat the same fruits and snacks each day. All the snacks are listed at the end of each day’s menu. You may eat them all at the same time or scatter them throughout the day.

DAY 1

Breakfast
1 whole medium grapefruit
Coffee or tea

Lunch
1 cup cream of asparagus soup salad made with:
½ head iceberg lettuce
1 medium tomato, sliced
1 stalk celery
2 tbsp. diet dressing

Dinner
1 cup bouillon
6 oz. chicken breast, broiled (no skin)
1 medium baked potato
6 Brussels sprouts

Snacks
1 banana
2 cups popcorn, no salt or butter

DAY 2

Breakfast
1/8 honeydew (from average melon)
1 slice rye toast
1 tsp. diet margarine
Coffee or tea

Lunch
1 cup chicken noodle soup
Salad:
1 head Boston lettuce
½ cup watercress
½ cup bean sprouts
2 tbsp. diet dressing

Dinner
6 oz. scallops, broiled with 1 tsp. diet margarine
1 cup cooked winter squash
½ cup broccoli

Snacks
3 medium fresh apricots
2 Graham crackers
1 peach

DAY 3

Breakfast
1 cup sliced mango
Coffee or tea

Lunch
1 cup green pea soup
Salad made with:
½ head iceberg lettuce
1 carrot, sliced
½ apple
2 tbsp. diet dressing

Dinner
4 oz. veal cutlet, broiled with seasonings
½ cup cooked elbow macaroni with 1 tsp. diet margarine
½ cup cooked red cabbage

Snacks
15 whole natural unsalted almonds
1 pear

DAY 4

Breakfast
12 grapefruit
1 slice toast
1 tsp. grape jelly
Coffee or tea

Lunch
1 cup vegetable soup
Salad made with:
2 cups watercress
1 cup endive
2sliced radishes
2 tbsp. diet dressing

Dinner
4 oz. white meat turkey
½ cup cole slaw
1 medium baked potato
1 tsp. diet margarine

Snacks
1 large steamed artichoke
2 pieces butterscotch candy
1 cup fresh raspberries

DAY 5

Breakfast
12 strawberries
½ English muffin
1 tsp. diet margarine
Coffee or tea

Lunch
1 cup clam chowder
10 oyster crackers
Salad made with:
½ head iceberg lettuce
1 sliced tomato
2 tbsp. diet dressing

Dinner
¼ chicken (breast and wing)
½ cup cooked carrots
½ cup applesauce, unsweetened

Snacks
1 medium orange
1 fig bar cookie
