How to get motivated to lose weight ? – Great question – but is there really a simple solution? Most of us want to lose weight, but the problem is that nobody likes to go on a diet.

We don’t even want to think about it. Just the thought of depriving yourself of the foods that you love is enough to send you running to the pantry to indulge in your favorite snack.

So how can we get motivated to begin losing weight? Some experts advise looking at people that have successfully lost weight and getting motivated by their success. For me this has never worked very well. I am a firm believer that any change that you need to make in your life, including losing weight, has to begin within yourself.

You have to be your own cheerleader. You are the one that has to motivate yourself. You must have faith that you can accomplish anything that you want to. You alone possess the inner drive to succeed.

Ask yourself this – Are you happy with your body right now? If not, what are you going to do about it? If you do nothing – nothing changes.

Close your eyes and picture what you will look like when you are at your perfect weight. Start with your face and move down each part of your body – arms, waist, stomach, legs – clearly see your desired body.

Now answer this – do you believe you can have this body?

If you think you can – you can!! We all have the power to accomplish anything we desire. Do you believe this?

In order to get motivated and to be successful, you must first believe that you can accomplish your goal. It is not enough to just wish that you would lose weight, you have to truly believe that you can. Keep saying to yourself “I can – I will”.  Be confident – expect results.

If you continue to believe that losing weight is difficult, well guess what, it will be difficult. Begin thinking that losing weight and getting healthy is easy.

If you have a positive attitude about weight loss, you have won half the battle.

How To Get Motivated To Lose Weight – Set A Goal

Now that you firmly believe that you can lose weight, you must put it in writing. Write down your exact weight loss goal. How much do you want to weigh?

It also helps to write down why you want to lose weight and how it will make you feel when you are at your perfect weight. How will it change your life?

Read these goals over each morning and evening to remind yourself of your goals and why you are doing it. Eighty percent of the people who write down their goals achieve them. It is so simple – write out your goals and objectives and you can increase your chances of success by eighty percent. Wow!!

How To Get Motivated To Lose Weight – Take Small Steps To Success

I find that when I have small successes – such as losing the first pound – it really motivates me to work harder to lose more.

It is really not that hard to lose just one pound. The first step is to change what you eat for breakfast.

I’m not sure why, but it seems that however you start your day is the way the rest of the day goes. So if you eat a doughnut for breakfast, then the rest of your day is also filled with junk food.

Start your day with a healthy breakfast and you will be prone to continue eating healthy foods the rest of the day. Breakfast is the easiest meal to change.

My favorite breakfast is a Green Smoothie. If you have a blender, you can make one. They are not only nutritious but they are also delicious.

You could also eat a bowl of oatmeal (not instant) with fruit. A fruit salad is also a great choice. You will be surprised what a difference changing this one meal can make. When you lose that first pound, you will be motivated to keep going.
