Heavy legs and how the heavy legs condition can be treated

The heavy legs or the ‘tired legs’ syndrome is a venous disease in which a person feels heaviness and pain in legs, as a result of a Chronic Venous Insufficiency (CVI). CVI is a condition when the blood in the upper region of the body is under lower pressure as compared to the lower region of the body, causing the failure of the veins in legs to pump enough blood back to the heart. This results in developing more pressure in the legs and feet causing heavy sensation. It is usually called as hydrostatic pressure and is measured in mmHg. The high pressure that has build up in the lower section of the body prevents the fresher blood from entering the muscle tissue causing ache and fatigue and swelling may occur in legs and ankles.

How can the heavy legs condition be treated?

  • Light exercises

Heavy legs syndrome may be treated with light exercises daily. Lay flat on the back; raise the legs and then let them go down by themselves is quite helpful for treating the tired legs. If you need to be on your feet for work for long periods of time – stretch. Raise your legs occasionally, move them, even while you’re standing there, and flex your lower leg muscles to keep your blood moving. Extra tip: do not sit down immediately after a long period of standing.

  • Special clothing

Wear stockings and compression clothing to relieve pain.

  • Light massage

Light massage helps the tired legs. Massage with a stimulating or venotonic cream starting from the foot sole to the ankles and ending up to the knees and hips.

  • Use some botanical remedies
    • Red Vine Leaf Extract- The leaves from the red grape plant (Vitis vinifera) contain resveratrol, a powerful natural antioxidant which is one of the grapes’ great gifts. In addition to resveratrol, red vine leaf extract also provides anthocyanins and a range of other protective polyphenols. All these substances were clinically proven to relieve the pain and swollen legs associated with varicose veins and chronic venous insufficiency (CVI).

Plus, red vine leaf extract is an excellent ingredient for overall circulatory system health, so while it’s helping strengthen the veins in your legs, it helps throughout the body, too.

  • Butcher’s Broom (Ruscus aculeatus): It is extremely well known for treating varicose veins, other symptoms of CVI, and circulatory health in general.

If you will put into practice all these advices, you have all the chances to get rid of the heavy legs sensation.
