Here is a breakdown of the best foods to eat to lose weight and get healthy at the same time.   The key is to eat foods that have less calories but make you feel full.   You can eat a lot of them so you will not feel deprived.

It only makes sense that if we feed our bodies nutritional foods that are free of additives, our systems will function better and we will increase our energy levels.

I am always amazed at the people who think that consuming boxed diet dinners or diet shakes laden with chemicals is a good option for weight loss.

The only way that you will permanently lose weight and be healthy is to eat all natural foods.    You won’t be hungry – you can eat as much as you want to and you will feel better, look better and lose weight quickly.

We offer a FREE Healthy Diet  To Lose Weight on this website that details this type of healthy eating.

High Fiber Foods  – Foods that are high in fiber not only keep you feeling full longer but they also have less calories than most other foods.

Eating lots of high fiber foods every day will ensure that your digestive system is cleaned out.  NOTE:  If you don’t currently eat a lot of fiber, make sure that you add high fiber foods into your diet slowly or you may suffer digestive problems.

Recommended High Fiber Foods To Eat To Lose Weight:

Beans And Lentils –  They are an excellent source of protein – low in fat – they help you feel full.  Substitute beans for meats and you will reduce fat and cholesterol.    You can add them to just about any soup, casserole, rice or pasta dish and they are also fantastic on top of salads.

Cook a large pot of beans or lentils in your crockpot and you can enjoy them all week.

Vegetables – Eating a variety of vegetables each day – especially green vegetables will not only help you lose weight, but you will also be much healthier.

Vegetables have a high water content which keeps them low in calories.   Try to eat mostly raw vegetables.  If you do cook them, don’t use butter or oil.  You can stir fry veggies in a small amount of water instead of oil – just make sure you keep stirring them.

Cut up a variety of vegetables – cucumbers, carrots, green peppers and green onions and keep them in the refrigerator for a snack.  Make or buy some hummus (made with chickpeas) to dip your veggies in for a delicious and healthy snack.

Fruits –  Pears, apples and raspberries are very high in fiber and low in calories.  Although you should feel free to eat any fruits.  They are all packed full of vitamins and healthy nutrients.   For those of you that have a sweet tooth, they are the perfect substitution.

Green Smoothies are a fantastic way to consume both your veggies and fruits in a delicious drink.  See our Healthy Green Smoothie recipes to learn how to make them.  If you have never tried one, you are in for a real treat.

Quinoa –  For those of you not familiar with quinoa, it is a seed that contains all eight essential amino acids that humans need.  It is high in protein, calcium, iron and a good source of B vitamins and vitamin E.

Some people refer to quinoa as a grain, but it is really a seed.  It is the perfect vegetable protein – it is very easy to digest and it is a complex gluten free carbohydrate.

You can substitute quinoa for any rice or pasta dish.  It will keep you fuller and provide more nutrition.

Chia Seeds are another fantastic addition to the list of foods to eat to lose weight.   You can add them to your smoothies, oatmeal or just about any other dish.  See our article on Chia Seeds weight loss for more information.

I have found that the best foods to eat to lose weight are found in the produce section of the grocery store.  If you fill up on whole natural vegetables, fruits and beans and avoid the high fat, chemical laden processed foods, you will easily lose weight and feel better.
