Food Diaries: Steps Toward Losing Weight
When you diet, the last thing you want to do is record what you eat. But to lose weight effectively, you must become aware of what you eat. Keeping a food diary makes you acutely conscious of what foods you put in your mouth. For many overweight people, unconscious eating is a major problem.
Each morning, or, better still, in the evening before going to bed, you write down food plan for the entire day ahead of you.
Planning is important for the success of any diet. Just as you may lay out clothes you plan to wear the next day before you go to sleep in the evening, chart your food for the day in advance. It will help you control your eating.
Control is the key you are looking for. You don’t want to continue to allow food to control you. You want to take charge. A food diary will help you gain this control.
Write down every item you will eat. Make your list a detailed one. Include all your snacks. Write sown the approximate time you plan to consume them. Chewing gum, mid-morning coffee, breaks nibbles. Everything.
By setting down your food plan in writing in advance, you will be planning your own diet. When you have tried this for a couple of days, you will be amazed at how good you feel about taking charge of your own eating.
Feeling good about yourself is taking several giant steps toward losing the weight permanently.
Keep a food diary. It works.
