Festive and Fun Christmas Party Activities

While decorating the house, opening gifts and eating tons of food are great holiday traditions, you can spice up your Christmas party with a few different activities to make things even more enjoyable. The following ideas are great for kids and adults both and will add a little extra something to your holiday gatherings this year.

Cookie Party

Why not host a cookie baking party this year? Invite your friends and family over and have them bring their own recipes and ingredients. Then you can spend time baking all sorts of different cookies, sampling them, and taking a bunch home after the party has ended. This is a great way to get together with friends and relatives (the kids can help, too!) and spend some quality time in the kitchen.

Christmas Karaoke

My family and I held a karaoke party one year, about a week before Christmas, and it was an absolute smash! Invest in a cheap karaoke machine (or rent one) and a few karaoke CD’s of Christmas songs. Then friends and family can choose their favorite tunes to sing along to. For an extra twist, make it a contest — invest in a few cheap trinkets, and have the kids make certificates using construction paper and their imagination for all the winners.

Christmas Movies

For a relaxed, fun evening, consider hosting a Christmas movie viewing party. Buy or record a bunch of classic Christmas favorites (like Rudolph, It’s a Wonderful Life, White Christmas, etc.) and invite a few close friends and family over for an evening of movies, snacks and drinks. It’s a great way of sharing a family tradition with everyone who means the world to you.

Wrapping Party

While some people might enjoy wrapping Christmas presents, I do not; but hosting a gift wrap party would be the perfect way to enjoy an otherwise boring task for me. Ask everyone to bring over a few presents they need to wrap, as well as wrapping paper, gift bags, bows, etc. Pool your resources and sit and chat with friends and relatives as you wrap gifts together. You can put out a few bowls of inexpensive munchies like party mix and make a communal punch bowl for drinks. It’s a great way to pass the time, and before you know it all your gifts will be pretty, wrapped, and ready to go for the holidays!

These fun Christmas party activities can turn an otherwise mundane routine into something special. These ideas are just that — ideas — and are presented in a way for you to completely customize your next holiday gathering. Great for kids and adults alike, these activities are a great way to spend time with friends and relatives and experience the true meaning of the season!
